So tomorrow we are leaving our house at 5:30 am to drive to Orlando for our most epic and ambitious family adventure yet. So I’m going to keep this short and sweet because I have so much to do still. I have a new respect for my mother and the work that went into making all of our trips happen and making them magical. I get it now.

Layna wanted to take art classes back in September because Garyn and Naomi both had taken art and loved it. So she started and had so much fun that Corra joined her in January. The spring semester was focused on painting with acrylics. Miss Brandi taught them all about color and mixing and techniques for application. They loved it. Sometimes an hour long class felt long, but they muscled through and really turned out some beautiful work. Something new this year was a couple of plein air painting field trips. The first one was to paint a pond and the second was to paint some flowers. Both times involved a picnic and the second time Miss Brandi invited me to join in…only I got to use oils because I’m a grown up.

We finally got to have an in-person art show and recital. Naomi performed a song she’s been working on for a while (and one of my favorite songs) and did a fabulous job. The little girls were so pleased to show off all their hard work and the names they came up with for their paintings were awesome. We had a great night to cap off a great semester.
