Sylvan Heights Bird Sanctuary

I’m shooting for one super cool field trip a month that coincides with some aspect of our overall home school plan. August was the beach trip because biology…it was a stretch, but I’m ok with that. This month was the Sylvan Heights Bird Sanctuary because September was zoology. Sylvan Heights is about 2.5 hours away and we discovered that it was well worth the drive. It’s a small local zoo, but really well done considering. Layna’s love language is not lots of walking, but with plenty of bench breaks she survived and even had a good time. We learned a lot and really enjoyed the time together. The variety and visibility exceeded expectations, the budgie house was the highlight of the day and we unanimously voted that we need to come back with our men in tow.
