Remember last year how we basically had 3 different staring points for our school year? Yeah, the tradition continued. My littles started July 31st (I’m crazy, I know…but we’ll see who is laughing when December rolls around and we take the whole month off). Garyn is a senior (!?) and Naomi started high school (!?!?!?) on August 9th, and Seminary starts in a few days.
I’m going to be vulnerable for a second. It has all been great and good and exciting. But I cried that first day my big kids were gone. Turns out I just really like my offspring and I miss them when they are gone. We had so much fun this summer hanging out and having more time together as a family. I may have also been thinking about how this is my last year with both my babies at home full time and thinking about Corra going away to school might have inspired some tears as well. Never fear, I pulled it together and we are starting week three of our home school year tomorrow.
Before we get into the requisite pictures…one last summer fling to share. The Splash Pad. Human beings who decide at some point that they are too old for splash pads are missing out big time. I’m happy to say that no such human beings live at our house.
Then we had our first day(s). The girls had a pretty uneventful first day, but there was swimming in the pondImeanpool and movie time as per the norm. But the real fun came the second day when I hired a substitute teacher for the morning while I had an appointment. They had so much fun and Naomi is a great teacher.
The big kids are big now. Shocker, I know. This year is fun because for the first and last time for a very long time…we don’t have to take anyone to school. We might be picking up after school as their activities of choice take them in different directions, but for now the mornings are much more chill.
This was one kid’s last first day of high school.
This was the next kid’s first first day of high school.
This was the youngest kid’s last first day of home school.
And who even knows with that third one? She had fun soooooo…winning.
