The school year is over and we are collectively getting sooooo old. Just so you aren’t shocked or overwhelmed…this post is doing some heavy lifting. We’ve been fitting a lot into this last month before our missionary leaves and our girls all level up in school.
It’s busy. It’s a lot to juggle. But life now has lost a lot of the frantic, frenetic feel and it’s a smoother, more zen chaos. I’ve spent a lot of time this past school year settling into the zen instead of worrying that life isn’t what it’s always been. It’s not better or worse, it’s just different.
My hive died and I’m taking a break from bee keeping. I planted exactly one zucchini plant and one cantaloupe, and I won’t be planting more this year. I’m not spraying my orchard; we are going au natural. My focus has shifted with so many things in my life…and now here at the end, I’m starting to really believe it is possible to have “not better or worse, just different.”
{I’ll be interspersing explanations with the pictures to keep you up on what you are looking at.}
Strawberry season. Layna and I went with her class and then all the kids went with me to restock. But I didn’t make jam…the first season since we moved here that I didn’t make strawberry jam. Differnt. Just different.
End of the year BBQ with Layna’s class. Her brother came to cheer her on.
Naomi got to go to our Stake’s spring formal. She was thrilled with her thrifted pink dress that went so well with her hair and new boots.
Corra got to go to an air show at a nearby airforce base with her Lego League Robotics club.
All the girls were thrilled with their year books, although Layna is still unsure about this whole “People writing in her book, business.”
Corra got on the AB Honor Roll and Naomi got straight A’s. Naomi is currently ranked #3 in her class. Since the 6th graders got their own award ceremony we were invited to support Corra. Naomi got lumped in with the rest of highschool so families were not invited for honor roll. Boo.
Layna’s teachers gave her a puzzle for her birthday. We finally finished it and she discovered puzzle glue.
Naomi started her summer intenship at the Broadway Zoo. She worked in the budgie house and helped untangle hair from around a baby’s leg. That baby became her buddy and stayed with her for about 45 minutes.
When I asked Garyn what things he wanted to do before he left or food he wanted to have. The only real thing he could think of was ice cream at Sunni Sky’s. Because Home MTC is serious stuff and the girls were still in school during his Preparation Day…today is the first chance we had to make that happen. Everyone said it met and exceeded expectations and we could say this school year was over and it is officially summer. No arguing here!
