Traditions are kind of my jam. I talk about them all the time. Because I love them, my kids now love them. Which is all well and good…until a tradition needs to be put on hold or needs to change. This year our standing trick-or-treating date needed to shift. Luckily, we had an excellent plan B. But first we had to squeeze in pumpkin carving because, you know, tradition. I snuck in a huge batch of sugar skull cookies that were not without drama, but delicious.

We went with Naomi’s unofficial boyfriend’s family and had a great time. Lots of candy, s’mores and foosball. While we were hanging out, I got a text from a number that I didn’t recognize…it was a lady in Alaska that had Garyn and his companion over for an early dinner before their 5:00 curfew. I didn’t even know that was a thing! It was awesome! She and I texted for a minute and it was just the chef’s kiss on an excellent evening.
As you can see, candy acquisition was a resounding success and Corra managed to spell “Snickers” with the mini’s which means she won Halloween. There is even enough to leave out for the Switch Witch tonight. In case you haven’t met her, she is a cranky old lady who can be bribed with candy to leave fun non-edible gifts. She emphatically does NOT take requests. Incidentally, she has some very unflattering things to say about Santa Claus.
