Girls Camp 2026

2026-07-18

Year number 4 that I’ve attended girls camp with my girls. But it was the first that I attended mostly as Layna’s plus one and only slightly as a leader. I must say it was the best one I’ve ever been too. The A/C and mattresses that came with the cabin may have helped a bit, but even compared to the last cabin camp…this one was better. The actual leaders who planned and executed put so much thought and effort into curating experiences that would be fun sure, but would also create space for the girls to draw closer to Jesus Christ. It was the best balance.
Corra was our worst injury (She fell hard and twisted an ankle jumping and landing badly from one log to another. Also she got a splinter in her leg that came out 5 days after camp. Yeah.) but even in that there were excellent lessons for her and me. We got lost a few times while driving to various points during the week and my car’s battery picked that week to start to die. But those things just add a bit of spice and some good stories, right? This may or may not be Naomi’s last girls camp and if it is…it was an excellent way to end a shining camp career.

Group activities, a lake day, more crafts than I thought possible, a spiritual hike (except for Corra…she got a ride in a gator and then a spiritual discussion), and good food. It was magical.
We even got a visit from a very cheeky raccoon.
