Nothing dirties a sink quite like a Bob Ross Paint Day. But this time I remembered before we started painting that oil paints require paint thinner if you want to get them clean. It helped considerably, but it’s still not a clean up job I’d sign up for lightly. I do have to say…our winter mountain scenes were totally worth it.
I meant to do a winter scene with the kids a few months after our Fall picture… but unfortunately it would take 3 years (almost to the day) to work our way back around to our Winter Bob Ross paint day. This time we swapped out Garyn for a few friends and we were off. The scene we chose was more challenging because of the canvas prep, and I’m pretty sure I started the kids off with way too much paint on their canvases. (Believe it or not, I have really no idea what I’m doing.) They were all good sports though, and because Bob makes everyone a painter…my girls were all quite pleased with their new additions to our Christmas Decor. The paintings will go on the window sill in our dining room, under the Star Wars snowflake collection. I did my own after they went to bed that night (because I didn’t want to delay the clean-up waiting for me) and I’m pleased with my attempt, even if I did skip the lighted church that was supposed to be nestled back against the trees. Naomi nailed hers, and even had aspirations for a castle on the mountain (she thought better of it.)
I’m not making any promises on finishing a “Seasons” collection, but I’ve got ambitions trending in that direction. If we do one in 2025 and 2027 (before Naomi leaves for college) we could have a complete set for each of my girls and me. Hmmmmm…
